Can I apply lime paint with any common
block brush?
 
Yes, as long as you use a good quality brush, for example, one with pig skin hair. The quality of the brush affects the texture and the final result. You can also apply lime paint with a sponge or a towel.
 
Can I apply lime paint with a roller?
 
No, it will leave pigment- and roller marks and this technique does not generate the typical look of lime. Lime lumps will accumulate at the edges of the roller.
Surfaces
Should I prep the surface?

Yes, depending on the surface a decent prep may be necessary. For optimal adhesion to non-mineral surfaces, we recommend one layer of Wallprim. The surface has to be free of fat, dust and has to be coherent.
 
Can I use any random primer?
 
No, P&O specially developed Wallprim for Fresco Lime Paint and Marrakech Walls.
We can only guaranty perfect adhesion with the use of P&O Wallprim.
 
Is it possible to apply lime paint on lacquer?

Yes, provided that you sand it until it is matte and prep it with our special primer first.
 
Is it possible to apply lime paint over latex?

Yes, lime paint can be applied over latex, as long as the Wallprim is used first for good adhesion. It is possible to order the primer in the same colour as lime paint.
 
Is it possible to apply lime paint on top of lime paint?

Yes, however,  lime paint has to be fully dry and cured. Our advice is to wait for at least
48 hours. Wallprim might be helpful to eliminate the absorbent property of lime paint.
 
Is it possible to paint wallpaper with lime paint?

Yes, as long as Wallprim is used first. Be cautious with wallpaper that has a texture,
it affects the natural texture and appearance of lime paint.
 
What about lime paint on wood?

Yes, it's possible to apply lime paint directly on bare wood. On MDF we recommend using one layer of Wallprim. 
 
Can lime paint be applied to plaster and stucco?

Yes, adhesion to mineral surfaces is very good, as long as it is dry, well cured, and solid. Remove loose parts and dust. Wallprim might be helpful to eliminate the absorbent property of stucco.
Maintenance
Does lime paint revile colour?

No, that used to be the case with old lime paint but not with our products.
 
Is lime paint washable?

No, lime paint is porous, it will absorb the stain. We recommend to remove dirt asap with a warm damp cloth and if needed sand it slightly. It's recommended to protect high traffic areas and wet rooms with our Dead Flat Ecosealer.
 
Can lime paint be applied in a bathroom
or restroom?

Yes, lime paint is bacteria- and mold-resistant and very suitable for wet rooms. For parts that are exposed directly to water, we recommend making it water repellant and easy to clean with our Dead Flat Ecosealer because water spots can cause stains on lime. Note: we don't support the use of Fresco on the interior side of showers.
 
Is Lime paint heat resistant?
 
Yes, lime paint is inflammable. If protected with Dead Flat Ecosealer; the sealer is heat resistant up to 100 degrees Celsius /212 Fahrenheit.
Dead Flat Ecosealer
After 7-10 days (when lime is fully cured, light colours after about 4 days), apply 2 or 3 thin, diluted (+-15% with water) layers of Dead Flat Ecosealer with a brush or by air-spray. Wait 12 hours in between the layers. Don’t use a roller to prevent air bubbles.

Environment
Is Fresco lime paint environmentally friendly?

Yes, our lime paint is made of 100% mineral ingredients and very ecological. Due to the pH value of lime in the product, we recommend using hand gloves to protect your skin.

How long does it take for lime paint to dry?

In general, we suggest waiting 8 hours in between the layers.
 
Can lime paint be mixed with other paints?

No.
 
Can I mix different Pure & Original lime paints?

Yes, it is possible to create nice effects and blend colors this way.
Efficiency
How many square feet can I cover with Fresco Lime Paint?

The general indication is about 110 sq ft/ per liter. It depends on the surface, dilution and application technique. In most cases, it goes further than 110 ft2.
 
Should I dilute Fresco Lime Paint?

Yes, adding water may make the paint easier to work with but also has an effect on the color and appearance. Depending on the thickness of the paint we suggest diluting  about 15 to 30% (until as liquid as buttermilk). Prevent potential differences in color by keeping the ratios equal between multiple cans of paint. 
 
Can I use Fresco as a lime wash?
 
Yes, Fresco provides is a beautiful, authentic lime wash on bare brick or wood (mineral surfaces). Advice: 1 part paint - 2 parts water (or more).
 
Is the colour of Fresco consistent?
 
Due to the natural lime in Fresco, small deviations in colour may appear. If you need more than one can, we recommend to mix and match the cans.
Sustainability
How long can I keep lime paint?
 
In a closed can and frost free at least 12 months. Once opened at least 6 months. Lime paint is 100% ecological and made with natural pigments. Dark colors can fade sooner due to the lime.
